When you open a product's price on Amazon.co.uk from Türkiye, the page you see is not the page a buyer in London sees: the currency changes, the shipping and delivery options look different, and some sellers are not listed at all. The same split runs through Google.co.uk results, the Argos stock page and Tesco's promotion lists. If you want to watch a page the way a user in the UK sees it, your request has to go out from an IP address in the UK.
In this post we compare the four providers selling UK proxies in 2026: Proxynet and three global brands. We looked at the pool, city and ASN targeting, the pricing model and the terms attached to traffic. Rival figures come from the providers' own sites and are dated September 2026; because we could not verify a UK-specific IP count for the three global brands, those cells stay as "—" in the table.
What is a UK location proxy?
A UK location proxy, or UK proxy for short, is a proxy that sends your request out from an IP address in the United Kingdom. The target site sees you as a visitor connecting from the UK; it shows its prices in pounds, its stock according to the warehouse there, and its search results and ads according to that market. The country code extension .uk is assigned to the United Kingdom (IANA root zone record), but a site having a .uk extension does not mean you will see its content as it looks from the UK: the server makes its decision by looking at the IP the request comes from, not at the domain name. There are four types: residential, which exits through home connections; mobile, which exits through a carrier line; static ISP, registered to an internet service provider; and datacenter, which exits from a data center. What is a UK proxy used for?
- Price and stock tracking: the price on Amazon.co.uk looks different depending on the visitor's country; you can only follow the pound price and UK stock by looking from there. More: price monitoring.
- Marketplace research: on eBay UK and Argos listings the seller order, the shipping time and the promotion block are built for the local visitor. More: e-commerce proxy.
- Local SEO: Google.co.uk results differ even between London and Manchester; you need to see your ranking from the target city. More: Google proxy.
- Ad verification: on sites such as ASOS you check on the spot how an ad really looks in the UK. More: ad verification.
- Catalogue and data collection: when you page through large catalogues such as Tesco's, the requests must not pile up on a single address. More: data scraping.
What to look for in a UK proxy provider
- The number of IPs in the UK. What matters is the IP count in this country, not the total pool. The UK share of a hundred-million pool can be a few hundred thousand, and most providers do not publish a country breakdown.
- Local network variety. The target site sees which network an IP is registered to. An address that looks like a BT or Virgin Media subscriber is not treated the same way as a hosting company's address.
- City and ASN targeting. Local results change from city to city. Is targeting free, how many cities does it cover, and can you take your exit from a single carrier's network?
- The pricing model and duration. At what volume does the published lowest price apply, is a subscription mandatory, and do unused traffic or balance expire at the end of the month?
- Traffic terms, protocols and delivery. Is there a quota on the ISP and datacenter products; are HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 supported; can you authenticate both with a username and password and with IP authorisation? The difference between the methods is in Proxy Authentication Methods.

The residential list entry price is 8 dollars per GB; a dedicated ISP IP starts at 3.50 dollars a month and comes down to 2.50 dollars at the 1,000 IP tier. Every ISP IP carries a 100 GB per month fair-use limit, with an extra fee on overage. We could not verify its country-level UK figure this time round.

A global provider aimed at enterprise customers: more than 175 million residential IPs and more than 20 million mobile IPs in more than 140 countries. On the ISP side it sells two separate products, shared and dedicated, each with its own pricing page. The residential list entry price is 6 dollars per GB and its lowest tier 2.50 dollars; the mobile entry price is 7.50 dollars per GB and its lowest 3.50 dollars. The trial is not self-service, it is handed out through the sales team or live chat. On the day this post was prepared we could not reach Oxylabs' own pages; that is why we put no figure in the table for its ISP price or its UK coverage.

Formerly Smartproxy. It publishes more than 115 million residential IPs; the residential pay-as-you-go price starts at 4 dollars per GB and its lowest tier is 2 dollars. It sells dedicated datacenter IPs in only five countries, and the UK is one of those five: a dedicated datacenter IP goes from 1.85 dollars a month down to 1.35 dollars, and a dedicated ISP IP from 3.33 dollars down to 2.50 dollars. The ISP pages publish neither a traffic quota nor a promise of unlimited traffic. There is a three-day, 100 MB trial; anyone who uses the trial loses the 14-day refund right.

Against that, none of the three providers gives a verifiable figure for a UK-specific IP count, so the only row that answers the question you actually care about — how many addresses are there in this country — is the top one. The residential column shows the list entry price per GB and the dedicated ISP column the entry price per IP per month; the two are not prices for the same product, and the comparison is made within each column. At Proxynet, as your balance grows the residential per-GB price comes down to 1.50 dollars and the ISP IP price to 1.00 dollars; a datacenter IP starts around 1.50 dollars and falls to 0.70 dollars. City and ASN targeting inside the UK
Picking a country is not enough for most jobs. Retail prices, delivery times and search results change from region to region inside the United Kingdom; a shipping estimate seen from London does not come out the same as one seen from Scotland. That is why pinning the exit to a city is a more meaningful level of targeting than picking a country. At Proxynet the city is chosen in the panel on the residential and mobile products, and it carries no extra charge.
The second level is the choice of network. Every IP block is registered to an autonomous system number, and that record is public: BT's network appears as AS2856, Virgin Media's as AS5089 and EE's as AS12576. A target site can query which ASN an incoming request belongs to; a request from an access provider's subscriber block does not get the same trust as a request from a hosting company's block. In the panel you can switch between more than 180 British ASNs and take your traffic out through a single provider's network.
The third is how close the addresses you get are to one another. If the first three octets of the twenty IPs you buy are the same, they are all in a single /24 block. Blocks are usually applied to the range rather than to a single address; in that case one address's mistake takes all twenty down with it. Why not use free UK proxy lists?
Pages titled "free UK proxy list" are everywhere in search results, but who runs the servers on those lists is not clear. A proxy sits in a position where it can see the traffic passing through it: your login details, your session cookies and the addresses you query are all in the view of whoever owns that server. In professional work there is no reasonable ground for handing that to an unknown party.
The second problem is the state of the addresses. An IP on a public list is used by hundreds of people at the same time; most of those addresses have long since entered commercial blocklists, and the target site refuses the request at the very first step. Even when one works, the connection drops, the speed is unpredictable and the address disappears within a few hours. Third, on those lists there is no such thing as choosing a city or a carrier: an address labelled UK can in fact exit from another country. Common mistakes
- Looking at the total pool and not asking about the country breakdown. The UK share of a hundred-million pool can be a few hundred thousand. Ask how many addresses there are in the target country before you order.
- Comparing a shared price with a dedicated price. Some of the lowest figures on the lists are for products where several customers use the address together. Make the comparison within the same column.
- Skipping the volume condition in a "starting from" sentence. At most providers the published lowest price applies when you buy thousands of IPs or terabytes of traffic.
- Mistaking a promotional price for the list price. The first month comes discounted, and renewal runs at the list price. Build the budget around the renewal price.
- Not reading the footnote in a package that says "unlimited". Some ISP and datacenter packages come with a monthly GB quota; when the quota is used up, the proxy stops or the speed drops.
- Taking all the addresses from a single block. Twenty IPs in the same /24 block are almost a single address as far as the target site is concerned.
